A Natural and Elegant Wedding at Convento de la Luz · Huelva, Spain

Adela and Miguel’s Convento de la Luz wedding was the kind of celebration I love to photograph: nothing forced, everything flowing naturally. They got in touch because they were looking for a documentary wedding photographer in Spain — someone who would observe more than direct. They also loved analog photography, so we shot a big part of the day on film.

Adela got ready in a quiet hotel in central Huelva with her mum and a close friend. It was a calm, slow morning — no stress, no rush. The ceremony took place in the church of San Pedro, right in the heart of the city. Very emotional, very grounded.

From there, we headed to Convento de la Luz, where the rest of the day unfolded. It was my first time shooting there, and I was genuinely impressed. The space is beautifully maintained and full of light and calm. We took a walk — just the three of us — through the cloister and upstairs hallways. The light up there was magic. I shot most of that time on film, which adds a certain rhythm and tone that only analog gives you. You can see more of that work on my film wedding photographer in Spain page.

Outdoor cocktail and candlelit dinner at Convento de la Luz

The cocktail took place in the cloister, with local products (yes, including jamón and mojama) and a great atmosphere. Lots of guests had travelled from different parts of Spain, which added to the energy.

Dinner was set up indoors, styled by Amarantus Decor. Long tables, candlelight, elegant details — beautiful without being over the top. And then came the music.

A proper party with DJs from Madrid

The DJ duo Bed in Paris came all the way from Madrid and absolutely nailed it. The dancefloor stayed full, the vibe was right, and the night ended just as it should: on a high.

If you’re planning a destination wedding in Spain, especially in Huelva or Andalusia, and looking for a film wedding photographer with a documentary approach, I’d love to hear your plans.
