Seville Elopement Photographer
Thinking about a Seville elopement? You’re in good company.
This city has a way of slowing things down. It’s warm, a little chaotic, full of colour and life. The kind of place where it’s okay to take your time, skip the formalities, and just be.
I photograph couples who want their day to feel honest. People who don’t care much for the show, but care deeply about each other. If that sounds like you, then maybe we’re a good fit.
Why Choose a Seville Elopement?
Seville is one of those cities where you don’t need a traditional wedding venue to create an incredible day. Some of my favourite elopements are simply built around the city itself.
You can have a quiet ceremony, walk through the narrow streets of Santa Cruz, stop for a drink or some tapas, take photographs around Plaza de España or María Luisa Park, and finish the day watching the sunset from a rooftop overlooking the Giralda.
The city also gives you very different possibilities within a small area. Historic palaces, gardens, colourful streets, traditional bars and elegant hotels are often only a short walk or taxi ride apart. For an elopement, that means we can experience different sides of Seville without spending half the day travelling between locations.
And from a photography point of view, the light is one of the things I love most about working here. Early mornings can be quiet and soft, while late afternoon and evening bring the warm light that feels so characteristic of southern Spain.
An elopement in Seville can be simple, spontaneous and completely yours. You don’t need to fill the day with things just because you’re getting married.
The Best Places for a Seville Elopement
One of the best things about planning an elopement in Seville is that you can create a completely different experience depending on the part of the city you choose. I’ve photographed couples and weddings in many of these places, so I also know how differently they work depending on the light, the time of day and how busy the city is.
Plaza de España & María Luisa Park
Probably the most iconic choice, and for good reason. Plaza de España is spectacular, but timing makes a huge difference. I prefer photographing here early in the morning, when it is quieter and you can actually enjoy the space. From there, we can walk into María Luisa Park and have a completely different atmosphere without needing to travel anywhere.
You can see a real elopement at Plaza de España in Seville here, photographed early in the morning when the square was still almost empty.
Santa Cruz & the historic centre
If you want something that feels more like Seville itself rather than a single landmark, I love simply walking through the old city. Narrow streets, small squares, orange trees, old façades and unexpected corners give us plenty to work with without turning the day into a tour of photo locations.
Real Alcázar of Seville
The Alcázar is extraordinary for photographs, especially if you love architecture, gardens and history. It requires more planning than simply walking around the city, so if you would like to include it in your elopement, we can look at the photography requirements and organise the timeline around the visit.
A rooftop overlooking the Giralda
For something much more private, a rooftop can be one of my favourite options. You can exchange vows overlooking the city, have a drink together and stay for sunset. Some hotels in Seville have beautiful terraces and suites that work particularly well for small celebrations.
Seville’s historic houses and palaces
For something more architectural and intimate, the city has some incredible historic properties. I’ve photographed real weddings at Casa de Pilatos, Casa Guardiola and Villa Luisa, and each one gives a completely different feeling to the day.
You don’t necessarily need to choose just one. For a small elopement, I usually prefer combining one or two meaningful places and leaving enough time in between to walk, stop for a drink and actually experience Seville rather than spending the day moving from one photo location to another.

Planning Your Elopement in Seville
One of the advantages of an elopement is that you can keep things simple, but there are still a few details worth thinking about when planning one in Seville. The time of year, the light, how busy the city is and the places you want to include can completely change the experience.
Choose the right time of year
Spring and autumn are particularly beautiful in Seville, with more comfortable temperatures for walking around the city. Summer can be extremely hot, so if you’re planning an elopement in July or August, I would strongly recommend avoiding the middle of the day and building the timeline around the cooler hours.
Think carefully about the time of day
For places like Plaza de España, an early start can make an enormous difference. The city is quieter, the light is softer and you have much more freedom to enjoy the surroundings. Later in the day, sunset and the early evening can be wonderful for rooftops, walks through the historic centre and dinner.
Legal or symbolic ceremony?
Many destination couples choose to take care of the legal paperwork at home and have a symbolic ceremony in Seville instead. This gives you much more freedom to decide where and how you exchange your vows. If having the legal ceremony in Spain is important to you, I recommend checking the current requirements for your nationality and circumstances before making plans.
Do you need permission to take photographs?
It depends on the location. Walking and photographing around the streets of Seville is very different from planning photographs inside monuments, palaces or privately owned venues. Places such as the Real Alcázar can have their own rules, opening hours and photography requirements, so these are things we should check when planning the day rather than leaving them until the last minute.
Don’t try to fit too much into the day
Seville has so many beautiful places that it can be tempting to create a long list of locations. I usually recommend the opposite. Choosing a few places you genuinely love gives you time to enjoy them, walk through the city, stop for tapas or a drink and let unexpected moments happen. Your elopement should feel like your wedding day, not a photoshoot around Seville.
Seville Elopement Photography
I photograph elopements as real wedding days, not as photoshoots around Seville. Your day might include getting ready, a private ceremony, a walk through the city, drinks on a rooftop or dinner together — or simply a few hours built around the things that matter to you. There is no fixed formula, and the photography adapts to the way you want to experience the day.
My approach is mainly documentary and relaxed. I don’t want you to spend your elopement posing or worrying about the camera. I’ll give you some guidance when it’s useful, but most of the time I prefer to let things happen naturally and pay attention to the small moments: the nerves before the ceremony, the way you look at each other, the laughter and everything unexpected that happens in between.
I’ve been photographing weddings for more than 18 years, and experience has taught me that intimate weddings often need less direction, not more. With only a few people around, there is space to slow down, change plans, stop somewhere you like or simply enjoy being together without constantly thinking about what comes next.
I work digitally and also offer analogue wedding photography. I love mixing both formats during an elopement: digital gives me the freedom to document everything that happens, while film brings something more unpredictable and tangible to the story. And Seville, with its warm light, colours and old streets, is particularly beautiful on film.
Most importantly, I want you to feel comfortable with me there. An elopement is intimate by nature, and my job is to be close enough to document it honestly while giving you enough space to feel that the day still belongs completely to you.
Elopement in Seville – FAQ
Can we legally get married in Seville as foreigners?
It depends on your nationality and residency status, and the legal process can involve quite a bit of paperwork. For that reason, many international couples take care of the legal part at home and have a symbolic ceremony in Seville instead. This gives you much more freedom to choose where and how you want to celebrate.
What’s the best time of year for an elopement in Seville?
Spring and autumn are my favourite seasons for an elopement in Seville. The temperatures are usually more comfortable and the light is beautiful. Summer is possible too, but Seville can be extremely hot, so I normally recommend planning the photography early in the morning or later in the evening.
How many hours of photography do we need for a Seville elopement?
For most elopements, 2 to 4 hours gives us enough time to photograph the ceremony and explore one or two locations without rushing. If you want to include getting ready, drinks, dinner or more of the day, we can plan a longer coverage around what you actually want to experience.
Do you help with location planning or permits?
Yes. I know Seville very well and can help you choose locations, plan the route around the best light and avoid the busiest times of day. If you want to photograph somewhere that requires permission, such as the Real Alcázar, I can also help you understand what needs to be arranged beforehand.
