Film wedding photographer in Spain
Are you looking for a wedding photographer in Spain who shoots on film?
You’re in the right place.
I’m Maria, a film wedding photographer based in Andalusia, with more than 18 years of experience photographing weddings. I work with both 35mm and medium format film photography, capturing real moments with the depth, texture and character that make film so special.
I always have my film cameras with me throughout the wedding day, choosing naturally what to photograph on film as each moment unfolds.
If you’re planning a destination wedding in Spain and want timeless photos that feel honest and full of emotion, I’d love to hear your story.
If you close your eyes, what do you remember?
My photography is about presence, light, and trust. It’s for couples who want to remember how it felt, not just how it looked.
Why hire a film wedding photographer in Spain for your destination wedding?
Film photography has a way of making ordinary moments feel extraordinary.
There’s a softness, a glow and a texture that give film its unmistakable character. Skin tones feel warm, highlights are soft, and colours have a depth that makes the photographs feel alive. But what I love most is the way film captures atmosphere — not just what a moment looked like, but something of how it felt.
And Spain is made for it.
From golden sunlight and whitewashed villages to coastal cliffs and wild olive groves, the light here works beautifully with film. It’s one of the reasons I love photographing weddings on film in Spain.
Getting married in Spain and dreaming of analogue photography?
I photograph weddings on film throughout Seville, Cádiz, Málaga, Granada and across Spain, from celebrations in Andalusian fincas to intimate weddings by the sea and destination weddings further afield.
Wherever the wedding takes me, film is always part of the way I tell the story — observing what is happening, following the light and choosing the moments that deserve to be preserved on film.

Is film wedding photography right for you?
After more than 18 years photographing weddings, here’s what I’ve learned:
Couples who choose film tend to…
- Want to feel present on their wedding day
- Don’t care about looking “perfect” — they care about feeling
- Appreciate craftsmanship and the artistic process
- Love timeless, editorial tones with a nostalgic soul
- Want their photos to feel as unique as their relationship
If that sounds like you — we’re probably a good fit.
How I photograph weddings on film
I always have my film cameras with me throughout the wedding day. I don’t work from a list of moments that “should” be shot on film — I decide as things happen, depending on the light, the atmosphere and what I’m seeing in front of me.
For 35mm, I mainly shoot with Nikon F100 and F80 cameras, usually loaded with Kodak Portra 400 for colour and Ilford HP5 for black and white. I also work with medium format cameras, including my Yashica Mat 124G.
After so many years photographing weddings, choosing when to reach for film has become instinctive. Sometimes it’s a portrait, sometimes a quiet moment, sometimes something completely unexpected. That unpredictability is part of what I love about film.
Real film. Real weddings. Real emotions.
Want to see what a wedding photographed on film really looks like?
Here are some of my favourite moments from real weddings in Spain, captured on 35mm and medium format film.
Let’s talk about your wedding
Whether you’re getting married in Seville, on the coast of Cádiz, or anywhere in Spain — if you feel drawn to film photography, I’d love to hear about your wedding.
Tell me about your plans, the place you’ve chosen and what matters most to you. I’ll tell you more about how I work and how film can become part of the way your wedding is remembered.
My approach to film is closely connected to the way I photograph weddings as a whole: naturally, attentively and without forcing moments. You can read more about that in my guide to documentary wedding photography in Spain.

Film wedding photography in Spain — FAQ
Do you photograph weddings entirely on film?
Film is an important part of the way I photograph weddings, but I also work digitally. I always have both cameras with me and decide what to use as the day unfolds, depending on the moment, the light and what I feel will work best on film.
What film do you use for weddings?
I mainly photograph weddings with Kodak Portra 400 for colour and Ilford HP5 for black and white, using both 35mm and medium format cameras. Each has its own character, and I choose between them depending on the light and the moment.
Do you photograph destination weddings throughout Spain?
Yes. I’m based in Andalusia and regularly photograph weddings in Seville, Cádiz, Málaga and other parts of Spain. I’m also available for destination weddings throughout the country.
When should we get in touch?
As soon as you know your wedding date, feel free to write to me. There isn’t really a perfect time to book — some dates fill up very early while others remain available much closer to the wedding.
Just send me your date and where you’re getting married, and I’ll let you know if I’m available.
