Sotogrande Film Wedding Photographer

I’m María Benítez, a documentary and film wedding photographer based in Andalusia. I photograph weddings in Sotogrande and along the coast between Cádiz and Malaga, combining digital photography with 35mm and, for some weddings, medium format film.

I notice the people around you: the laughter over dinner, the first friends on the dance floor and the glances you exchange with your family.

When you choose film, I use my film cameras alongside digital throughout the day. Depending on the number of rolls, that can include getting ready, the ceremony, portraits, your guests and the party.

I shoot real film in colour and black and white, which is then developed and scanned. I love its grain, its colours and the way it records light.

We can talk through the options before you book and choose how many rolls to include, depending on how much of your wedding you’d like photographed on film.

Why I photograph weddings on film

With film, I choose each frame carefully, paying attention to the light, the composition and what’s happening in front of me. That might be a quiet portrait, a conversation over dinner or the party at midnight with flash.

I use film and digital together throughout the day, choosing how to photograph each moment as it happens.

What matters to me is that the photographs bring you back to your wedding: the people, the atmosphere and how it felt to be there.

Weddings in Sotogrande

I’ve been photographing weddings since 2009 and travel to Sotogrande for weddings and couple sessions.

At Trocadero Sotogrande, I photographed a wedding overlooking the sea, with everyone gathered around the pool for dinner. You can see the celebration in my post about this wedding at Trocadero Sotogrande.

I’ve also photographed a wedding at a private estate in Sotogrande and an engagement session here. You can explore that session for another look at my work with couples in the area.

I work with a documentary approach, staying close to what’s happening and giving you room to enjoy the day with your family and friends.

We’ll also make time for portraits of the two of you, making the most of the setting and the light. I’ll give you some guidance whenever you need it, so you can relax and enjoy that time together.

A few questions about film wedding photography

Do you photograph the whole wedding on film?

I combine digital photography with film. You can choose how many rolls to include, and I’ll explain the options when you enquire.

Do you photograph weddings in Sotogrande and nearby?

Yes. I photograph weddings in Sotogrande, San Roque, Marbella and along the coast between Cádiz and Malaga. Tell me where you’re getting married and I’ll include travel in your quote.

Have you photographed weddings in Sotogrande before?

Yes, at Trocadero Sotogrande and at a private estate. You can see photographs from the Trocadero wedding through the link above.

Can we have an engagement session in Sotogrande?

Yes. We can choose somewhere that means something to you, or I can suggest a location. It’s also a lovely way to get to know each other before the wedding.

How do you deliver the film photographs?

Once the film has been developed and scanned, you’ll receive the photographs in an online gallery, ready to download and share.

When should we get in touch?

As soon as you know your date and where you’re getting married. Tell me a little about what you’re planning and I’ll let you know if I’m available. Tell me about your wedding here.

Planning your wedding in Sotogrande?

Tell me when and where you’re getting married, and a little about what you’re planning. I’d love to hear from you.

I also photograph weddings in Marbella, Cádiz, Jerez, Seville and across Andalusia. You can see more of my work on my film wedding photography in Spain page.
