A spring wedding at Villa Luisa

Villa Luisa is a small palace in the centre of Seville. What sets it apart is the garden: large, and full of palm trees, bougainvillea and orange trees. Raquel and Neil chose it for their spring wedding. Many of their guests travelled from abroad, and having the venue in the middle of the city meant they could enjoy Seville as well as the wedding.

In spring the light in Seville is soft and the evenings are mild, which suits a garden like this one.

Getting ready at the Hotel Alfonso XIII

Raquel got ready at the Hotel Alfonso XIII, where they’d also held their pre-wedding celebration. Neil stayed at the same hotel with his friends, so I could move between the two groups and photograph the morning as it happened, without asking anyone to stop what they were doing.

I photographed part of the day on film as well as digital. I like the colour and grain of film and the way it records light. You can see more of my film wedding photography here.

The team behind the day

– Wedding planners: Colorín, who coordinated this destination wedding.
– Flowers: Enea, with colour on the staircase, the tables and a fountain filled with petals.
– Catering: Alda & Terry, with an Andalusian-inspired menu.
– The party: after dinner there was dancing, a hora loca and churros with chocolate.
