Marta and Manu: a chapel in San Fernando and a winery among the vineyards
Marta and Manu’s wedding began somewhere very special to Marta, and to me too: the chapel of the Compañía de María school in San Fernando. It’s the school where Marta studied, and where I studied as well.
They love documentary wedding photography, and that’s what drew them to my work: telling the story of their day from beginning to end, just as it happened. I also brought some film cameras along, which gave part of their photos a classic feel.
A baroque chapel with a lot of history
The chapel is baroque and dedicated to the Niña María. It’s also a place with a lot of history: it played a key role in the days of the Cortes that signed the Spanish Constitution of 1812.
Marta got ready at her mother’s house, in a courtyard with lovely light. I loved her headpiece, with feathers and a low bun in the style of a ballet dancer, by Cherubina, and her beautiful dress by Silvia Fernández Atelier.
Celebrating at Bodega Luis Pérez, Jerez
After the ceremony we all headed to Bodega Luis Pérez in Jerez. It’s a modern winery surrounded by vineyards, and its views over the Jerez countryside caught everyone’s attention. To me it brings the modern and the traditional together really well.
The celebration was fun from the very first moment: their friends were already waiting with a cold beer in hand, so everyone could raise a toast and get the party started. As you’ll see in the photos, there were plenty of hugs, laughter and a few happy tears. I enjoyed this wedding from beginning to end.
